Oh, baby!
This weekend I've been thinking about blankets. Baby blankets. I'm going to be a new aunt for the third time this summer and in preparation, I plan to knit [surprise, surprise]. I haven't decided on a pattern yet. There are plenty of great ones out there, but I'm picky. I did find some inspiration, though, as I was scouring ravelry. And here are some of my main influences. I love the asymmetry of this shawl, with all of the visual weight offset to one side. The uniformity of the stitch pattern creates a great overall texture.
In this one I'm drawn to the exaggerated ribbing. It is longer than typical ribbing, which I think adds grandeur to the cables it lead into.
For now I'll keep scheming to combine a warm welcome for my new nephew.
