This trip was something I had been looking forward to for months and now that it has come and gone, it was well worth the wait. We had a great time exploring the history, cuisine, and sights of Ireland-and as a knitter on the Emerald Isle, I was stoked to be in wool country.
We started our journey in Dublin and my search for yarn began immediately. Our first day we walked through downtown and I searched out the one and only This is Knit. I picked up a beautiful skein of their house yarn, Townhouse Yarns.
While in Cork we visited the Blarney Castle and the Blarney Mills. The Mills is no longer a wool processing center, but a retail spot, and offered this beautifully inspiring display: layers and layers of wool. I left The Mills with three skeins of aran Irish wool.
My knits were even happy in Ireland. They looked beautiful in and around town!
Aside from all the lures of wool and knitting, the country itself is simply breath taking. This was a beautiful place in time.
